Bohemian Bride

“Sol” bohemian wedding dress is a detailed dress with a variety of bohemian elements: circular and geometrical art deco lace, feathers and fringe. All those elements but still not going overboard. In the process of designing this dress I had in mind and wanted to create a piece of art.

It took me a few months to complete. I found a gorgeous unique embroidered lace at a shop in UK. An art deco circular design with fans and feathers. A little to busy for my taste but I knew I can use all the patterns by spreading them out on the dress and make them stand out.

I started to cut out all design patterns, as I usually do and create my own design appliques. For the silhouette I wanted something attractive, fitted over the hips and flare out in a extra long train. I used a soft blush hue for the underling so the lace will stand out on the skirt and top.

As I started to pin the circular lace on dress I kinda get stuck because I felt like something is missing and wasn’t sure what it was. I didn’t want to overwhelm the dress with the circular feathered lace and tried to use as minimal possible so it stands out. I decided to start on a different design and put “Sol” away for a while.

Even thou I put the dress aside, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and how to continue and complete it. A few weeks later, after lots of thinking I thought about using another art deco geometrical lace. I had some left from “Belle” wedding dress. I decided to cut it out in different geometrical shapes. I started pinning and incorporating the new lace. It started to look as I envisioned but couldn’t exactly express and create.

This wedding dress is seriously a dream!!

As each of my new wedding dress designs, Sol has a couple of top variations too. One top is showing more skin. A lot of the brides I help have destination weddings, beach wedding or just want something light and unique. I wanted to have a unique option that was more unconventional. The top also has a deep V neckline and chiffon rushing over the bust. The bell sleeves with fringe are so much fun! Second top is more modest in the front and has a deep V lining and plus is fully lined. The main mesh -lace layer comes in a scoop neckline with an art deco detail on the neckline and on the fitted sleeves.

Sol meaning “sun” in latin and also musical note which I thought is perfect name for this fun, sexy, boho wedding dress.

I wanted to end this story by saying a big thank you to Hailey Pierce Hailey is one of the most talented photographers I’ve worked with. Her work is so artistic and I’m so lucky she photographed Sol in this gorgeous and fun elopement in the Grayson Highlands State Park Virginia. And look at those wild ponies!!!

Love, Daci
